Dr. Naomi Brahim
I am the immediate Past-President of the Kentucky Counseling Association and Program Chair for the Dr. Bill Braden Mentoring Leadership Academy. I have experience as a teacher, school counselor, adjunct professor, and am currently in a position at the district office of Jefferson County Public Schools. I completed a Bachelor’s from the University of Louisville in Interdisciplinary Studies. I completed two Master’s degrees at the University of Louisville (Master of Art in Teaching – Business Education and Master of Art in Secondary School Counseling). My doctorate was earned and awarded from the University of the Cumberlands in Educational Leadership. I am currently working on my school administration certification at the Indiana University Southeast.

Ashley Debord
I am a school based therapist at Mountain Comprehensive Care Center. I am also a graduate student at Lindsey Wilson College. I am projected to graduate with my Master's Degree in Counseling and Human Development in December 2016. I am currently a member of the Kentucky Counseling Association , and am also a member of the American Counseling Association.
I have been working in the mental health field for going on 3 years. I am passionate about counseling and view counseling as the future of mental health in modern America. Having the privilege of working with the Dr.Bill Braden Leadership Academy has prepared me to be an emerging leader in the counseling field. I have the confidence in myself to be an advocate for our wonderful profession through this program. |
Lauren DowneyI am a clinician and a clinical navigator at Beaumont Behavioral Health in Lexington, KY. I am also a Certified Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and I work at a private practice that specializes in trauma focused therapy. This private practice is owned by Heather Risk, Psy.D and Associates.
As a counselor and doctorate student at Eastern Kentucky University in Counselor Education and Supervision, my passions within counseling include trauma ,multicultural counseling/ multiculturalism in academia, and social justice issues. I am also a member of ACA (American Counseling Association), ACES (Association of Counselor Education and Supervision), and AHC (Association of Humanistic Counseling). In terms of my KCA involvement/ leadership ; my roles include the participation in the inaugural Bill Braden Mentoring Leadership Academy for 2015-2016. Also, for a second consecutive year, I am serving as KCA's 4th District president for 2016-2017. |
Holli DukeI have the pleasure of being the School Counselor at Brooklawn State Agency School which is housed on the Uspiritus Campus. Uspiritus is a residential treatment facility offering services for children through Psychiatric Residential Treatment or Private Child Care. Our school is a collaboration between Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), Uspiritus, and the Kentucky Educational Collaborative for State Agency Children (KECSAC).
I am a current member of KCA, the Jefferson County Association for School Administrators (JCASA), and the Jefferson County Counselor's Association (JCCA). I am very involved in the JCCA conference planning committee, JCPS counselor work group helping our trans population, and JCPS Transition Work Group for children moving between State Agency and home schools. I look forward to my new role as KCA Archives Chair for the 2016-2017 year and deeply value all that I have learned in the 2015-2016 KCA Mentoring Leadership Academy. |
Joshua ElliottI own and operate Insight Counseling Services, a small private practice, in Lexington, Kentucky. In addition to being a licensed professional clinical counselor, I am also a nationally certified counselor and a certified trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapist. I am a doctoral student in EKU's Counselor Education & Supervision program, with research interests in multiculturalism, social justice, and trauma.
I am a current member of ACA, Association for Counselor Education & Supervision (ACES), Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD), and Counselors for Social Justice. I am currently serving as President of the Kentucky Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues in Counseling (KALGBTIC). Being a member of the inaugural Dr. Bill Braden Mentoring Leadership Academy has been a tremendous learning experience that I know will serve me greatly in the rest of my career. |
Beth FlemingI have the privilege of serving as a high school guidance counselor at Muhlenberg County High School. I am a former elementary and middle grades teacher. I have research interests in the areas of counseling under-resourced students, counseling families, and persistence to graduation.
I attend Western Kentucky University and am currently writing my dissertation in pursuit of an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. I earned a Master's Degree in School Counseling and numerous Educational Administration certifications from WKU as well. My undergraduate degree included a Bachelor of Science degree and a double major in elementary education and middle grades math education . Participating in the Dr. Bill Braden Mentoring Leadership Academy has been an outstanding experience which will shape me as a counselor and advocate. |
Terri HallI am a school counselor for Knott County Schools. I have served two elementary schools in the district for the past two years. I obtained my Master's in School Counseling from Morehead State University. I also have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Before serving as a school counselor, I was a teacher and coach at a private Christian school and I spent time working in different endeavors at a community college and Science center. These experiences have allowed me to work with and get to know a variety of people and communities.
I am a member of the KCA (Kentucky Counseling Academy), ACA (American Counseling Academy), and the KSCA (Kentucky School Counselor Academy). I am part of the inaugural class of the Dr. Bill Braden Mentoring Leadership Academy which has encouraged me to seek out leadership roles, lead break out sessions at conferences, and helped me network with others in my profession and beyond. |
Aaron MeriwetherGreetings! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Kentucky. I provide community based mental health counseling and consultation services in south central Kentucky. I am a doctoral student in Lindsey Wilson College’s Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) Institute of research. I have research interesting in counselor self-efficacy, multiculturalism, locus of control, and mindfulness.
